Job Title: Maintenance Specialist 2 - LTI

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Department: Operations

Reports to: Assistant Manager, Aurora/Aurora XI


The Maintenance Specialist 2 LTI responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting specialized Aurora systems to include Aurora, Aurora Xi and Tie Marking and the TSO systems. This will include both preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.

New Hire Training Incentive: $1000 at 90 days & $1500 at 6 months (dependent on job performance)


Safety Focus and Machine Operations

  • Maintain and troubleshoot Aurora (Aurora, Xi, Tie Marking) and TSO systems; including but not limited to diagnosis of equipment failures, selecting method of repair, cleaning debris and materials from parts, work areas, and equipment.
  • Dismantles, repairs, and reassembles various components of the equipment.
  • Uses typical mechanic and electrician tools and test equipment.
  • Performs work in technical areas such as fabrication, assembly, design, etc.
  • Works from and produces drawings, verbal instructions, or sketches.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Conducts work according to standards set by the customer.
  • Perform routine job inspections to ensure that the company polices are being followed and routine maintenance is begin performed.

    • Interact with field staff, in person or via phone, to troubleshoot and coordinate repairs to Aurora systems.
      • Communicate effectively between all stakeholders, internal and external; including but not limited to customers, operators, supervisors, and routine paperwork (as required).

        Education: High School Diploma or GED

        Experience: 4+ years' experience with the use of hand tools, diagnostic equipment, computer hardware and software.

        3+ years' experience in electrical diagnostics and repairs. Must be able to read electrical schematics.

        Licenses/Certifications: Maintain Railroad Certifications

        Maintain valid Drivers' License

        Maintain State of Texas Radiographer License

        Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
        • A working knowledge of railroads, transportation, heavy construction, or combination.
        • Knowledge of or ability to quickly become familiar with Railroad products and services, particularly pertaining to maintenance of track and structures.
        • Knowledge of computers and software with good word processing skills using Microsoft applications.
        • A cheerful and open attitude toward learning, with the ability to study and become an expert on GREX current and developmental products and services.
        • A disciplined work ethic and advocate for GREX management's mission and vision.
        • Ability to maintain a flexible travel calendar.

          Education: Some college in a related field

          Experience: Mechanical troubleshooting and repairs

          License: Class B CDL Drivers' License

          Valid Passport with clean background, ability to obtain work visa in foreign countries

          *Or equivalent combination of education and experience
