NightsPOSITION: Electro-Mechanical Technician DescriptionThe
Production Technician role is a diverse role providing support to
the organization in mechanical, electro-mechanical machining and
serving as a maintainer in a manufacturing facility. When serving
in this position, an individual could have diverse tasks and
responsibilities based in all these technician roles given the
daily operational needs. Individual must have some applicable
skills and be willing to learn skills necessary to support all the
areas as better explained below. These roles provide support to the
engineering teams to check equipment, operating systems by
correcting machining issues and applying preventative maintenance
requirements to avoid downtime. The role ensures the performance of
all Company mechanical products, machinery and equipment performs
optimally while additionally assisting engineers with analyzing
performance results.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Providing support in operations as a Mechanical Technician
which can include duties such as:
- Provide support during machine installations and upgrades
including: interfacing auxiliary equipment, identifying and
correcting errors in programming and wiring and ensuring vendors
and contractors are meeting our needs and expectations; conduct
regular diagnostic tests on the mechanical systems
- Developing and implementing mechanical maintenance plans to
prevent costly equipment breakdowns
- Update service and repair records, maintaining our machinery,
and running diagnostic tests on machinery and equipment to ensure
optimal performance
- Responsible for building, installing, maintaining,
troubleshooting and repairing equipment; ensuring rapid response to
any malfunctions and breakdowns
- Operate and maintain hardware, high pressure systems and pumps,
and other ancillary equipment including pneumatic components
- Optimizing mechanical efficiency by adjusting machinery and
equipment settings; streamline processes and increase the
reliability of production operations
- Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical
components for products, such as industrial machinery or equipment,
and measuring instruments
- Resolve motor, pump, conveyor and hydraulic problems
- Providing support in operations as a Machinist which can
include duties such as:
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering
information in order to determine methods and sequences of
operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product
dimensions and tolerances, machine parts to specifications using
machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders
- Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication
through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of
machine functions, metal properties and mathematics
- Set up machines to precise tolerances and operate various types
of machinery following established procedures
- Cut, trim, or scarf metal objects, fit and fabricate metal
components to specified dimensions
- Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect
defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision
instruments such as micrometers
- Set up and operate metalworking and cutting equipment; monitor
the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
- Estimate cost factors, including labor and material for
purchased and fabricated parts and costs for assembly, testing, and
installing
- Operate metalworking machines to fabricate housings, jigs,
fittings, or fixtures; fabricate products, parts or components
using machine tools
- Providing support in operations as an Electro-Mechanical
Technician which can include duties such as:
- Test performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or
integrated systems or equipment
- Test performance of electromechanical assemblies, using test
instruments such as oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, or
bridges
- Install electrical or electronic parts and hardware in housings
or assemblies, using soldering equipment and hand tools
- Verify part dimensions or clearances to ensure conformance to
specifications, using precision measuring instruments
- Repair, rework, or calibrate hydraulic or pneumatic assemblies
or systems to meet operational specifications or tolerances
- Perform Production Technician & Maintaining responsibilities
including:
- Maintain and repair all facility systems to ensure their proper
operating condition
- Maintain and repair company machinery
- Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics,
shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining
procedures
- Operate, test, maintain, or calibrate unmanned, automated,
servo-mechanical, or electromechanical equipment
- Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to
remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of
mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers
- Programming computer numerical control (CNC) machinery, such as
punch presses Maintain inventory of common stock materials
- Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to
determine methods and sequences of assembly
- Align, fit, or assemble component parts, using hand or power
tools, fixtures, templates, or microscopes
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease
turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively
and jointly
- Ability to work in a team environment, record data in a
computer system, communicate with multiple departments, and
complete work orders and preventative maintenance on equipment
indoors and outdoors
- Performs quality checks according to procedure and repairs
equipment in a timely manner
- Perform preventive maintenance to sustain machinery and
equipment to ensure production volume is sustainable and
timely
- Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under
operational conditions to investigate proposals for improving
equipment performance Discuss changes in design, method of
manufacture and assembly, and drafting techniques and procedures
with staff and coordinate corrections
- Maintain documentation and records in all systems
- Participate in emergency response activities as necessary
- Maintaining a tidy work environment and adhering to industry
regulations
- Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits or
certifications as required
- Handle time POSITION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred - Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering
Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Maintenance, Electro-Mechanical
Technology or similar or two-year technical degree or equivalent;
in lieu of degree a minimum of 4 years' experience serving as a
trade/mechanical technician in a related industry
- Required - High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Required - 2 years' experience in equipment maintenance, prefer
equipment maintenance in a manufacturing operation
- Prefer experience overhauling maintenance operations with
extensive troubleshooting skills
- Prefer experience maintaining motor controls, installations,
maintenance, and repairs
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering designs GENERAL
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Aptitude in spatial reasoning, attention to detail, and skilled
craftsmanship
- Knowledge of the operation of lathes, shapers, milling
machines, drill presses, and other related equipment
- Mechanical aptitude and experience (work with machines and
general tooling)
- Formalized mechanical training, skilled in hand and power tool
usage
- Operate compressors, sandblasters, spray equipment, and other
small power equipment
- Ability to utilize power tools and hand tools as well as heavy
equipment; Use hand tools like power tools and rigging equipment
daily; calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production,
using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges,
protractors, or ring gauges
- Use of precision measuring instruments
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical
schematics
- A demonstrated experience where quick-thinking and problem
solving plays a critical role
- Handle simple and complex heavy industrial equipment like
forklifts, scissor lifts, basket trucks and bobcats
- Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot, configure,
and replace non-similar motor control components
- Proficient in understanding and ability to troubleshoot root
cause, configure, and replace non-similar controls hardware, such
as input/output modules, human machine interfaces (HMIs), safety
relays, and other industrial controls
- Working knowledge of all automation standard practices
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings, pneumatic,
hydraulic and electrical schematics for use in system understanding
and troubleshooting
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain
accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight
deadlines
- Must be able to identify and execute improvement opportunities
through both process improvements and system improvements
- Ability to work with employees from many different cultures and
backgrounds
- Preference will be given to qualified local candidates
SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- General knowledge of basic hardware and software and uses of a
variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft
Office Work, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-site
software
- Proficiency in mechanical design and diagnostic testing
