Description: Freytag’s Florist is looking for a hands-on, high-energy Inventory & Processing Supervisor to lead our back-of-house operations. This dynamic "working leadership" role requires you to set the standard by working directly alongside your team in the cooler and warehouse environments to ensure our floral products receive the highest quality handling and efficiency. The Role at a Glance Department: Operations Reports To: General Manager Team Size: Directly supervises 3-4 processing employees Environment: Predominantly back-of-house and refrigerated cooler settings Schedule: Approximately 45-47 hours per week; overtime required during peak floral holidays Key Responsibilities Hands-on Leadership: Work alongside the team during receiving and processing, leading by example in pace and quality. Intake & Quality Control: Oversee all incoming shipments, verify quantities, inspect product quality, and ensure proper hydration. Structure: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse and cooler layout to prevent clutter and ensure product accessibility. Inventory Management: Conduct routine cooler walk-throughs to monitor product depletion and proactively communicate anticipated shortages. Showroom Support: Ensure the customer-accessible cooler is consistently stocked and presentable, including dressing plants and preparing showroom products. Team Accountability: Assign daily priorities, provide coaching and feedback, and support the training of new employees. What You Bring to the Team Experience: Prior experience in perishable goods (grocery, food service, nursery, or similar) is preferred. Leadership: Previous supervisory or team lead experience is highly valued. Technical Skills: Strong computer and Excel skills are required. Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain a calm, tactful demeanor in difficult situations. Physical Capability: Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and frequently lift up to 50 lbs. Mindset: A self-starter with a strong work ethic, a sense of urgency, and an analytical, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving. Requirements: Customer centric, committed to supporting the customer. Experience in perishable goods, food service, grocery, nursery, or similar environment Prior team lead or supervisory experience preferred Strong work ethic and willingness to lead from the floor Organized and detail-oriented Comfortable working physically while managing responsibilities Strong communication skills Strong verbal communication and listening skills; ensures that information is passed on to others who should be kept informed. Self-starter who works independently and in a team environment. Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
