Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: Oncology background Job Description:
- Work in an 8th-floor South Tower unit specializing in Oncology. -
Manage a unit with 21 beds and current census of 8-12 patients. -
Work alongside a team with day shift staffing of 1 charge nurse,
3-4 RNs, and 1 Patient Care Technician (PCT); night shift staffing
of 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, and 1 PCT. - Handle patient ratios
estimated at 1:3/4, flexible to 5 patients. - Operate and manage
Baxter infusion pumps. - Use Meditech for Electronic Medical
Records (EMR). - Engage in typical unit procedures like blood and
electrolyte replacement. - Exhibit a compassionate personality that
fits the unit's needs. - Adept at floating to areas such as
Hematology-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. - Adhere to a dress
code of Royal blue scrubs. - Familiarize with unit guidelines and
policies, like neutropenic precautions, strict input and output
monitoring, CHG baths and linen changes every 24 hours, dressing
changes every 7 days, and line and cap changes every 96 hours. -
Work on a rotating weekend schedule. - Possession of Chemotherapy
