Job Title: RN - PICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Pediatric Critical Care Experience required License: Active RN License in Texas (temporary license will not be accepted) Certifications: PALS, BLS Must-Have: - PALS - BLS - 2 years of Pediatric Critical Care Experience Description: The position requires managing pediatric critical care patients in a high-acuity setting. Experience with critical care management of various disease processes is essential. Candidates must be proficient in handling respiratory illnesses, sepsis, and DKA. Experience with pressure lines, including CVPs and arterial lines, is required. Comfort with ventilated patients, including HFOV and Servo, is necessary. Candidates should be experienced with administering drips such as epi, nor-epi, and milrinone. This role involves caring for complex trauma patients and managing neuro assessments. Candidates should also have experience with complex pediatric postoperative cases. Special procedures performed in this unit include Foley insertions, feeding tube placements, and dressing changes. Clean and healthy nails are required, with no artificial nails allowed. Hair must be neat and clean, styled conservatively, and pulled back if shoulder length or longer. Body art should be covered whenever possible. Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited. Travelers will float as needed to other areas, such as NICU and general pediatrics, when required. Adherence to the attendance policy is mandatory. New equipment and technology are available to enhance patient care. Both day and night shift traveler positions are open.
