Job Description:

The Vice President for Family Outreach is a member of the Executive Management team and reports directly to the President of Methodist Children's Home (MCH). This position attends Board meetings, Executive Management meetings, and other functions as assigned by the President. The Vice President for Family Outreach is responsible for the overall operation of programs and services offered by MCH Family Outreach offices throughout Texas and New Mexico. The Vice President for Family Outreach must maintain a healthy value system, including moral and ethical behavior consistent with the agency's mission and core values. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -- - - Oversee, coordinate, and support the recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, and separation of Family Outreach staff throughout Texas and New Mexico. Supervise staff who provide services to families and children in compliance with all agency policies and procedures, laws, licensing regulations and accreditation standards. Propose annual program goals, changes, and quality improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and services. Explore, recommend, develop, and implement new programs and initiatives to expand or improve services to children and families according to the organization's mission, including potential costs and benefits. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of program activities, client services and supervision of staff. Monitor accuracy of client records and program reports. Report client or employee incidents accurately and timely in accordance with agency policies and procedures, and/or licensing or accreditation standards. Coordinate the development of a proposed annual program budget for all Family Outreach services and monitor use of resources within the approved budget. Oversee purchases, maintenance and safety of all offices or facilities. Provide timely and accurate information to the President and, when assigned to do so, to the Board of Directors. Represent the agency in meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Plan and coordinate projects and/or special initiatives with Program Administrators and other Vice Presidents to ensure continuity and consistency. Approve correspondence affecting licensing, legal documents, medical consent, and any statements or commitments made by staff which would obligate the agency or imply responsibility for actions by the agency. Effectively develop the professional skills and leadership abilities of supervisory staff and Program Administrators. Attend and participate in trainings, administrative meetings and conferences that are beneficial to fulfilling job responsibilities. Display initiative, creativity and passion for safety and quality of care offered by MCH. WORKING CONDITIONS The Vice President for Family Outreach is an executive position requiring more than the normal 40-hour workweek. Some weekend and night work may be necessary to accomplish duties. The normal workweek is considered Monday through Friday, however this position requires the flexibility for frequent travel throughout Texas and New Mexico to encourage, evaluate and equip staff in order to ensure the highest level of services for those served by MCH. This position is required to be available for contact or support when out of the office or during job related travel. A stipend is provided to offset the business use of the cell phone. The Vice President for Family Outreach must establish rapport with staff, clients, foster families, Board members, and community partners; make sound and informed decisions; be self-motivated and dependable in meeting requirements for supervision, travel and completion of assignments; demonstrate the ability to work in a variety of environments with diverse populations; create healthy work environments, be open and respectful while providing a balance of accountability, training and support; communicate and coordinate a volume of diverse material and information; maintain accurate and timely documentation; support crisis situations as needed; and lead meetings or provide training to individuals and groups. EDUCATION/ LICENSURE This position requires a master's degree in social work or comparable field. A minimum of five years of supervision and leadership experience in a child-placing agency or related setting is required. A Childcare Administrator's License and Child-Placing Agency Administrator's License in the State of Texas are required. The Vice President for Family Outreach must have documented supervisory and/or management experience in programs and services, training, supervision, continuous quality improvement, strategic planning, and overall operations evaluation and analysis. Credentials as a Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor is preferred. TRAINING Training hours must be completed annually to comply with licensing and accreditation standards, as well as MCH policy. The employee's supervisor may require additional training to meet specific job requirements or enhance professional growth. Completion of training requirements is mandatory for continued employment. OTHER The Vice President for Family Outreach must have a valid Texas Driver's License, an excellent driving record that meets the standards set forth by the liability insurance company and Methodist Children's Home, no criminal history and acceptable references.
