Location: Waco, TX - Electrolit Manufacturing USA Plant Reports to : Engineering Program Manager Position Summary The primary responsibility of the Controls and Automation Engineer is to control, manage and operationally maintain the control systems for automated machinery, including PLC's, HMI's, robotics and advanced conveying and assembly systems. This position will be working with sensitive information therefore it will require an NDA. Principal Duties Oversee the optimal operation of the manufacturing process and troubleshoot process equipment when necessary. Write and/or modify custom code for PLC and HMI programs Commission and Program Process visualization (HMI/SCADA) In depth understanding of PLC hardware/software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, etc. Design and maintain a variety of fiber, wired and wireless systems using industrial protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc. Read electrical schematics, including power distribution under 480vAC, control panel Experience programming VFD's, MCC and AC/DC motors Lead, train, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and efficiently Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are available when needed and maintaining accurate records Other duties as assigned by Management. Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Inductive Reasoning - The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events) Qualifications: A degree in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Controls & Robotics or equivalent education/ experience is required. An electrical background, and advanced experience and knowledge of PLC programming are required. Must have great knowledge in Boilers, HVAC, Allen Bradley and Siemens Systems, including but not limited to high speed packaging equipment. 5 years of experience in PLC programming is required (Allen Bradley and Siemens). 3 years of experience with ABB and Fanuc Robots is required. Experience leading a team of technicians is required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skill are required. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office. Other Requirements Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
